SRF File

SRF is a kind of camera raw image file.

A camera raw image file contains minimally processed data from the image sensor of either a digital camera, image or motion picture film scanner. Raw files are so named because they are not yet processed and therefore are not ready to be printed or edited with a bitmap graphics editor. Normally, the image is processed by a raw converter in a wide-gamut internal colorspace where precise adjustments can be made before conversion to a "positive" file format such as TIFF or JPEG for storage, printing, or further manipulation, which often encodes the image in a device-dependent color space. These images are often described as "RAW image files" based on the erroneous belief that they represent a single file format. In fact there are dozens if not hundreds of raw image formats in use by different models of digital equipment (like cameras or film scanners).

SRF file is a raw image format saved by Sony digital cameras such as the DSC-F828. It stores image data in an uncompressed format exactly as it is captured by the camera's sensor. Settings such as color temperature and exposure can be edited after the image is saved on a computer. The following software can help you view SRF files on different operating systems.

SRF is a kind of camera raw image file. It stores image data in an uncompressed format exactly as it is captured by the camera's sensor. With SRF converters, SRF files can be easily converted to other file format. The following instructions will show you how to convert SRF into BMP, GIF, and JPG format.

Convert SRF to BMP

Converting SRF to BMP is very easy with Image Converter Plus. In Windows Explorer, select an SRF image and click your right mouse button. In the context menu, select Convert to submenu and click Custom conversion line.

The list will already contain images selected from Windows Explorer.

To add other files, press Add image button and select some more files in SRF format to be converted to BMP. Select BMP format as target format.

Expand Save images in BMP format group and adjust any needed settings. Available color depth is from 1 to 32bits.

  • Color quantization reduces the number of distinct colors used in an image while preserving visual image quality.

  • Dither is a form of noise, or 'erroneous' signal or data which is added to sample data to minimize quantization error.

Press Start to begin conversion.

Convert SRF to GIF

Converting SRF to GIF is very easy with Image Converter Plus. In Windows Explorer, select an SRF image and click your right mouse button. In the context menu, select Convert to submenu and click Custom conversion line.

To add other files, press Add image button and select some more files in SRF format to be converted to GIF. Select GIF format as target format.

Expand Save images in GIF format group and adjust any needed settings. Available colors are from 2 to 256 colors. Besides color depth, you can also select conversion type:

  • separate file - all images, single-page as well as multipage, will be saved as separate single-page files.

  • multipage file - all converted images will be included into one separate file. Page numbers are assigned according to the file list.

  • as is - all images will be saved according to the structure of source files.

  • add pages to file - converted images are added to the specified file. If the file doesn't exist, it will be created.

  • Color quantization reduces the number of distinct colors used in an image while preserving visual image quality.

  • Dither is a form of noise, or 'erroneous' signal or data which is added to sample data to minimize quantization error.

  • Interlacing is a method of encoding a bitmap image. When the image is received partially (especially over a slow communications link), a degraded copy of the entire image is displayed to the user, so that he may decide whether to download the whole image or abort the transmission.

    Interlacing is supported by the following formats:
    
    GIF stores the lines in the order 0, 8, 16, ..., 4, 12, ..., 2, 6, 10, 14, ..., 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, ....

Convert SRF to JPG

Converting SRF to JPG is very easy with Image Converter Plus. In Windows Explorer, select an SRF image and click your right mouse button. In the context menu, select Convert to submenu and click Custom conversion line.

To add other files, press Add image button and select some more files in SRF format to be converted to JPG. Select JPG format as target format.

Expand Save images in JPG format group and adjust any needed settings.

  • Available color depth is 8, 24, 32 bits.

  • Compression quality depends on "image quality" parameter. Use the slider to specify a value from 25% to 100%. 100% quality preserves original image quality.

  • Extra JPG settings feature saving EXIF and IPTC information. EXIF and IPTC are usually present in photos created with digital photo cameras.

  • Select baseline, progressive, lossless compression to create an image of needed quality. Baseline algorithm is the standard compression algorithm.

This topic is part of an upgrade process. You can optionally create an .srf file immediately after repository merge. This enables you to run an application and evaluate whether you have resolved attribute conflicts correctly. After the you have completed the upgphys portion of the upgrade, you must create a new SRF file. This file includes the merged repository changes.

Requirements: The repository merge must have been successful.

Compiling a New SRF File Immediately After the Repository Merge

Perform this optional procedure immediately after the repository merge and before you perform the upgphys upgrade in the development environment. Repeat this procedure as needed to help evaluate how you have resolved attribute conflicts.

Do not use this procedure to compile an SRF file if you have completed the upgphys upgrade.

To compile a new .srf file after the repository merge

1 Navigate to the following directory on an upgraded Siebel Server you will use to test applications in the development environment. Verify that this is not the directory where Siebel Tools is installed:

Windows: SIEBEL_ROOT\OBJECTS\language

UNIX: $SIEBEL_ROOT/OBJECTS/language

where:

language is the installed language, for example, ENU.

2 Rename the siebel.srf file to siebel_release.srf.

3 On the Siebel Tools development workstation, connect to the database against which you ran the merge.

4 Start Siebel Tools.

5 Choose File > Open Repository.

6 Select New Customer Repository.

7 Choose Tools > Compile Projects.

8 Select All Projects.

9 Enter the path to the Siebel Server OBJECTS directory where you renamed the siebel.srf file, and specify siebel.srf as the file name.

CAUTION: Do not enter the path to the Siebel Tools OBJECTS directory. You will overwrite and destroy the Siebel Tools .srf file.

10 Click Compile.

11 Copy the contents of the Siebel Tools WEBTEMPL directory to the Siebel Server WEBTEMPL directory.

12 Start the application.

Compiling a New SRF File After the Upghys Upgrade

After completing the upgphys upgrade in the development environment, you must compile a new SRF file. This updates the file with the merged repository changes. This is the .srf file you will copy to the Siebel Servers in your test environment.

To compile a new SRF file after the upgphys upgrade

1 Navigate to the following directory on an upgraded Siebel Server you will use to test applications. Verify that this is not the directory where Siebel Tools is installed:

Windows: SIEBEL_ROOT\OBJECTS\language

UNIX: $SIEBEL_ROOT/OBJECTS/language

where:

language is the installed language, for example, ENU.

2 Rename the siebel.srf file to siebel_release.srf.

3 On the Siebel Tools development workstation, connect to the database against which you ran the merge.

4 Start Siebel Tools.

5 Choose File > Open Repository.

6 Select Siebel Repository.

7 Choose Tools > Compile Projects.

8 Select All Projects.

9 Enter the path to the Siebel Server OBJECTS directory where you renamed the siebel.srf file, and specify siebel.srf as the file name.

CAUTION: Do not enter the path to the Siebel Tools OBJECTS directory. You will overwrite and destroy the Siebel Tools .srf file.

10 Click Compile.

Siebel Tools creates a new SRF file and places it at the specified location on the Siebel Server.
