BUP File
The BUP file is a backup of the IFO file on a DVD.
BUP (Back Up) is the filename extension of some files stored on video DVDs.
The BUP file contains the information about the organization of tracks, menus, chapters, subtitles on the disc. It is created automatically by various applications and generated in case the program crashes or the original file becomes corrupt and needs to be restored.
BUP files are used in the event that the corresponding IFO file is unreadable, perhaps due to a scratch on the surface of the disc. Like IFO files, BUP files are not encrypted.
DVD backup files, most commonly referred to as bup files, are most often found as a file type on certain DVDs and are used to back up information about the DVD's menus, chapters, tracks and subtitles. Since these files are somewhat non-standard, certain programs will need to be utilized to open them. Luckily it's also not hard to open bup files if the right steps are followed and the right programs are used.
1 Download one of the following programs which allow easy opening of .bup files: CyberLink, InterVideo, WinDVD, or Nero. Nero offers a free trial period that may suit your needs in the short term, and it tends to be the most robust offering. For Mac users, Apple DVD Studio Pro is the best application suited for the job.
2 Install the program you have chosen from the options in step 1. Each program will offer a standard installation process. Simply click the downloaded file and continue to click “Next” until the program is installed.
3 Find the BUP file on your PC, right-click the file, and choose “Open with---Choose Program...”
4 Then choose the application you have installed in Step 2 and click "OK." The program will auto play the file.
